Subject: RE: Grazing Alfalfa After Killing Frost

East Central Minnesota
I started doing it probably 3-4 years ago and have not noticed any problems. In fact this year instead of taking a 3rd cutting I let the cows harvest it. I figured why spend all the time and fuel putting up hay just to feed it right away. I will graze on alfalfa and corn stalks until the snow gets too deep or until Christmas at least. These are fall calving cows.

But an early heavy snowfall could derail my plans and then I will be wishing it was cut and baled.
