Subject: Grazing Alfalfa After Killing Frost

SW MN
I know people who graze their alfalfa fields after a killing frost. I'd like to do it, but have always been concerned about doing damage to the crowns from hoof traffic and winter kill. This field is on a west facing slope, and the lay of the land funnels NW winds through, driving frost in deep. Should I be concerned, especially with it being so dry?
