I gave up trying to finish calves in 12 to 15 months a few years ago. Even though they reached 1250 lbs. and hit the good market time (around the first of May) they just wouldn't grade well enough. Now I feed slower and target the fall and winter market and 1400 to 1500 lb. finish weight. These are calves born in Feb and March.
