Faunsdale, AL | Possible ! it's been a long time since I read those studies and I have no idea whether they were breeding cows or heifers or a mix.
On the scale of the sperm, any difference between a cow and a heifer's uterus isn't going to be very significant. A heifer with a uterine body 1/4 the size of a cow's is still so much bigger than the sperm, it can't make much difference as far as sperm being able to swim everywhere.
The important point of this discussion is to first ensure that the semen is deposited IN the uterus ! Then you can work to get it right in the uterine body every time. It has always seemed to me that AI was one of those things where attention to detail is very important. People who don't really care about the little stuff, don't usually have very good results! | |
