NE IA
Wt. to sell 1350 to 1380, could bring as much as hol. steer but likely .03 less. Be careful not to get much over 17 -18 months of age or buyers get nervous about being called hard boned which is quite a discount.I've got one customer here at the feedlot that has fed a couple pens of heifers and I'll say this, their intakes are quite a bit less than a steer hense rate of gain is also limited. If you can do a 2.6 on a pen thats pretty good . I think your hay and pasture program will work as long as you include 5-6 lbs grain while on pasture. You'll probably want to feed mga to control the heats or injuries will add up. Your not the only one going to feeding the hfr's out and it can work as long as you keep the age down.
