Subject: Interesting things on non fed harvest

New Mexico
is that cow carcass weights been running in the 576 lb per range this year.
Right at 29 to 30 lbs per lower than 010, and the long term 5 year average.

Drought effect is simply lighter cows.

Say FI non fed harvest 011 is running 9 to 10% above 010.
That is slanted of course by non feds in the dry S States which are running 20 to 25% more than 010.

The afore is adding up to a huge demand for trim off the traditional fed cattle.

50% trim end of July was in the $76.50 cwt range, ran up to $110.50 cwt 3rd week of Aug, current is $97.25 cwt.

Generally in old times, late summer early fall was the weakest trim market ( in the spring buyer excuses are one cannot get em heavy enough, and by fall they're all supposedly to heavy ).

Takes the 50% of course to blend with the afore lean cows beef for all the blends processors produce.

Higher pressure in the beef $UP vacuum now because the tradit fat cattle appear to be moving towards a counter seasonal weight mode which is lighter and not heavier.

The lighter they get, the lighter export tonnage becomes which is the main price driver for high end usa beef.

The more we export, the higher USA internal demand is for hamburgers and hotdogs too.
