Subject: Re: Grazing Rye

West Central WI
I no till drilled some rye into a old/abused pasture a couple weeks ago. I had the drill for fall seeding alfalfa and decided to do a few acres of rye in the old pasture for a spring feeding area for next year. It has come up nice, but dont think broadcasting would of worked too well. It may if you have alot of wet weather so if the seed sprouts it can keep growing until it roots down, but if it sprouts then gets dry it will die off. Even if you broadcast and could disk or drag lightly just to get a little seed to soil contact it should work. Rye is tough, it wants to grow badly from what i've seen.
