| I can tell you that the Ritchies made today are junk compared to the old ones The last two we installed in 1998 lasted 10 years. We went with 44C Super Pete Petersen concrete waterers, but they do have their problems too. What bugs me the most is the thermostats don't stay set. You get them at the right temp, and a month later the water is 75 degrees and the air temp is 10 below. So, you turn it down a little and nothing changes, so you turn it down a little more and get to where you want it. Then, a week later you come out and it's froze solid. The top cover is frozen in as well, and that is how you get to the thermostat, so you chop out and turn it up A LITTLE. Two weeks later the water is back at 75 degrees and you start all over. If you do get a Petersen, I would get a 44. Those puny little 34's are just too small IMO and 2 here are used for sheep, one for cattle. |
