Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | When I install systems that use consoles which do not have built in boom switches such as a 460, 660, 4600, 750, 760 etc., we take this test a little further. The following test sequence assures that the wiring from the external boom switches is connected properly.
For the initial programming, I put in 100 for boom 1 width, 200 for boom 2 width etc. I also enter a self test speed of 10 MPH. I then watch the area/hour and try each switch one at a time. With a speed of 10 MPH and a width of 100, the area is about 10.2 acres/hour. So roughly 10 acres/hour should be displayed when using Boom 1 only. Boom 2 should show about 20 acres/hour etc.
Once this test is completed, the true Boom widths are entered.
The SideKick Direct Injection console has yet another way to accomplish this. A second meaning for one of the keys (don't remember which right now) will show B tot which means the Total Boom Width that is observed at any time. By switching ON/Off the various booms, the total can be observed and compared with what it should be.
