OK | We are short on grass here due to the drought, but got a nice 4-5" of rain last week that helped some. Question I have is about nitrates and prussic acid accumulation in Johnsongrass after being stressed by the drought, then recent growth spurt. Is there a "safe" time to let the cows graze this? Will either nitrate or prussic acid accumulate in the hay if I leave it to cut for hay, or is hay not safe? How many areas of the field would I need to test before I could safely turn cows on it? Thanks for any and all help. | |
