By Don's description, she is exactly the type of person that the programs are intended to help. Where the problem comes is when "not really" disabled persons take advantage of the taxpayers. The number of people collecting far exceeds the number that common sense would say would be deserving.

I haven't seen any TEA party folks advocate allowing truly disabled folks to starve. I would be the first to advocate making anyone receiving government assistance earn it by doing something-anything, whatever they are able to do, even if it's a very simple task that does not involve lifting. Do something for your support.

Another thing, Don's friend is not DEMANDING help. Don is asking on her behalf, maybe even without her knowledge.
