Yes Ben, the cow business is heading down two opposite paths with machinery use. One of the most profitable cow men I know grumbles when he has to start the old 4020 to feed hay this time of year. His cows had cornstalks and headlands in Iowa until a few days ago. Then, on the other hand, a purebred farm dives a fancy feed truck by his farm every day to feed the cows with their January, actually Thanksgiving, calves. Oh, and the feed was loaded with the newest 160 hp JD tractor. I doubt that much iron pays for a purebred farm and it sure won't for a commercial herd.
