I use all Mueller curb stops in sizes from 3/4" to 1 1/2" haven't had a problem with any of them. Arond here where everything is buried 6' deep it doesn't pay to be cheap on the stuff that is going in the ground.

i relyed on the local independent hardware/plumbing store for the 1st valve, and it lasted over 25 years. got a replacement from the same guy. noticed it didn't look as well made, but figured it was made to work. when it only lasted 3 years, i went back with intent to get a better one, as i was sure he figured out that valve wasn't very good. was surprised when he still had the same valve on the shelf, and it was now $30.00.

i didn't know if there was a better valve made and i didn't want to put the same thing in the ground. repairing the valve seemed to be the best option, considering it was mid november. going to tell the guy about the curb stop valve for his future sales.
thanks for the info.
