| Rich, it's probalby something about your water in particular that siezes the hydrants up. I have way less than half the arm you do and don't have any real problems working the Woodford/Iowa hydrants.
Like I said in my other post, I have one hydrant I leave on from spring until fall and it needs a good soaking of WD or PB or something to free it up first when it hasn't been turned off for a while.
My artesian water is high sodium which seems worse than my regular alkalai well water as far as making the hydrant stick. I have 2 water meters on my artesian water line. If I'm not using off one line I try to turn the water on and run it for 5 minutes every month or so or it seems the water meter seizes up. At first I thought it was freezing in the pit but it displayed the same symptoms in summer too. | |
