Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

Pat has probably the best notion.  Wrenching for someone else in their shop is a viable addition to your income without tying up a bunch of your working capital.  We lucked out when a friend of our son's got fed up with his job as a dealership mechanic.  He works in our shop as an independent contractor and is starting his own farming operation.   He's overhauled tractors, rebuilt transmissions, just about anything on a farm machine.  It's good for us, as we only pay him when he's here and we know that we're getting top-quality work done, and good for him as he has the extra income and flexibility that he needs.  Plus, after growing up and working on all green stuff, he's learning what real farm equipment really is!!*  :-)

*denotes sarcasm!
