Subject: RE: Driving to North Carolina

nw NC
Just a couple of weeks ago my wife's friend stopped here in northwestern N.C. on her way to Indianapolis. We looked at Google maps to get driving directions for her. It showed the same route ( in reverse direction of course ) as the one that you got on Mapquest, as being easiest. From Charleston, WV south on I-77 ( the West Virginia Turnpike ) there will be many places to stop for night's lodging if that is your concern. After coming into North Carolina on I-77 ,take I-74 / US 52 into Winston-Salem then I-40 east toward Greensboro and Durham.
As sri said if you have a few minutes, stop at Pilot Mountain State Park. Drive right to the top. Great view of northwest Piedmont area of North Carolina. Our farm is only 5 miles from the park. Between Pinnacle, N.C. exit and King, N.C. exit , I-74/ US 52 passes less than a mile from our farm.
