NC Iowa | I gave up on Consumer reports. When I was looking to replace all my appliances I subscribed to CR. But... you go through there top rated buys and read the user reviews, they are typically 2 out of 5 starts.
I go to lowes and home depot and look at the user reviews. I trust 40 users more then the "scientists" at CR.
I have bought all new appliances in the last couple years. Ended up with a Whirlpool dishwasher and fridge, fridgidare oven, GE clothes washer and Samsung dryer. I really like them all and haven't had any problems.
Lowes is the cheapest place I have found to buy appliances, especially if you search for a 20% off coupon, when I bought my fridge and dishwasher I bought them below Lowes cost.
