Capac, Michigan | Start with a couple and see how it goes and after a year you might not want to do it again or will want to continue. I am 29yrs old and started 4yrs ago with with 1 brown swiss heifer and 1 holstien heifer, raised from babies bred both AI and calved them in and started milking them feeding their calves and my brothers baughten bull calves until 15 calves still couldn't keep up with the milk they were giving. So started shipping the milk. 4yrs later I have 13 milk cows 12 heifers and 22 steers. All heifers and steers were born from my cows and I keep everything from babies to maturity. Have baught cows with extra money. People laughed at me when I told them I shipped milk from 2 cows, starting to get a little respect now. So I say try it and do a great job with what you have and it will most likely work out, don't try to be a big shooter out of the gate it will pay off. Always keep educating yourself. Good Luck! | |
