Well Eddie you can't label them all as jokes. It may just be the sales you are attending in your area also. Have I seen what you are talking about? you bet I have. Their (auctioneer and ringmans) job is to bring the most for the cattle as they can but not at our expense! Dropped bids or phone calls are crap and that would lead me to another sale. But the idea of some long distance legit buys are very common here at certain sales and that is what good marketing,bloodlines and service are about. Other sales cater to the local rancher and have very good bulls/heifers. Sometimes you just have to find that "sale". But yes all purebred breeders have a way about business as I am sure we all do. I guess it is our responsibility to make sure we are not being taken by a crooked breeder or auctioneer. I don't think history will change anytime soon.
