Subject: Re: cast iron skillet

Clarksdale Delta Dixieland
My wife, who taught me long ago to NEVER mess with her iron skillett says this, wash it with warm water and dawn real good scrubbing inside down and rinse. Then take some vegetable oil and wipe around inside and shoulders of skillett, not where there is so much oil is standing, but with a good coating, put it in oven for bout 30 minutes on 350 and let cool then put it back in pantry. She never allows her skillett to be washed and after each use she seasons it with oil before she puts it away. This keeps bread from sticking. She only cooks cornbread in her skillett.
