My wife took a trip to NY city and stayed with a classmate from High School.  She was amazed because they always stopped at the corner grocery on the way home from work to get somehting to fix for supper and also for breakfast the next morning.  Only had a small frig in the apartment.  They didn't throw much away cause they never had it long enough.

Guess we should all get rid of the big frig and freezer and only buy what we will eat in one day.  Wouldn't be very practical here.
