New Mexico | Angus Plus Cows ( those are Brangus which have another shot of strait Angus in em ), and use a goggle eyed herfy type bull on em.
Result is Super Baldies.
On the Super Baldy cows I'd come back on em with moderate "red factor" Charolais bulls.
Keep in mind cow color matters notta and horns don't hurt em either ( pretty easy to band the horns and they fall off, if those bother you ).
If you get in a good set of red cows, red bronkles, or tan cows...they're most likey bred to black bulls and will have a bunch of black and black bronkle calves.
I'd keep using black bulls on em, or go to some char bulls and the calves will all show the char stamp ( it's a GAIN and performance stamp for the feedlot and stocker folks ).
BEST cattle mix is Black, Reds and Tans ( char cross ).
SAFEST buy if your a fat cattle buyer is those pens of Blacks, Reds and Tans...those pens have it ALL.
On strait pens of blacks...they'll generally grade..but the yield can burn ya.
On strait pens of tans they'll yield, but can burn ya on grade.
Reds tend to straddle the middle on the afore results.
