I would like to feed colored, but 1. Holsteins are a lot cheaper to get started (paid $87/cwt for 440 pounders). I don't know what replacements will cost, but neighbor just paid $119/cwt for 675 lbs Missouri colored. and 2. I don't have any hay. The Holsteins do quite well on corn stover for roughage, not so sure about colored.
