Oakdale, Il. | Everyone should serve on the school board once in thier life, so just do it. I served for 12 years while my kids were in school. I am very conservative, so I didn't make many friends with the teachers or staff. Many times you have to say NO to someones idea or project, but that is what it takes to balance the budget. And in Illinois you must balance the budget or the STATE will come in and oversee your finances. (HA!!! like they could do a better job) Remember salaries are about 75% of your budget, and you can't change much about that.
It is also very rewarding watching all the kids grow up knowing that you took part in a very important part of their life.
