This year has been better but we need a few more years of profit to keep going. With the price of grain it will be difficult to do. Don't know how the large sow operations are making it. Sooner or later the investors are going to get tired of losing money esp. with the grain market so high. I own a 900 sow unit along with a partner. Our fathers started it back in the early 70's along with 7 others. We are the only ones left in it. We almost pulled the plug on it last winter but decided to keep going for now. If hog prices collapse again we will get out. I would keep custom feeding for now and sell your crops. Better hope your producer keeps going. | |
