West Texas
Have witched water wells for as long as I can remember. Always used any forked branch off of the land where I was looking for water. If someone has the knack, ther is no way they can prevent the forked stick from dropping. I have had the stick rub my hands raw when I tried to keep it horizonal. Last well I witched was when I bought this farm. I marked two spots and told the well driller to drill in either one. As he was drilling he asked why I wanted to drill in those two spots and I told him that I had dowsed them and he said that if he had known that he would never have started drilling. Many times he had drilled a dowsed well and there was no water there. I got a good well and we are still using it after 15 years. well 115' deep and water stands 38' from top of ground.
