Hoxie, KS, Northwest Kansas | We do ours about 3 weeks prior to weaning. But we are fall calvers and we wean april 1st. the calves come in weighing 450-650 depending on how harsh the winter was but most of the time they are 550 Just like rockin said the calves leave the chute and once they find their mother its like nothing ever happened but those nuts are natures own ralgro imo. our vet uses a thing in a cordless drill that twists the nuts together and finally rips them off after the tubes are so tight it closes all the blood vessels off. then we give a tetnus and synovex as an implant and off to green grass after weaning. |
