wcmn | I agree with the above. I have my spring wheat custom combined and used to have a cousin do it with his gleaner combine, which is a rotor, and had a hard time baling with small square baler and even harder with round baler. Also as was said above you won't get half the straw as out of a conventional combine. I have a different neighbor do it with a 9510 John Deere now and nice wide full wind rows. There is a world of difference.
I was also contemplating a different combine myself and would go with a red combine over a green one if it wasn't for the wheat and straw needed. Some guys say you can open up the concave of a red combine and combine when it is a little tougher and the straw will be fine. That sounded like a hard thing to do as you always combine in the heat of the day. | |
