At that age, I would reccomend a yearling heifer. They are a little smaller and easier to handle. Steers will get pretty big and can be a handfull for a young showman. If she has experience around cattle, she won't be intimidated by a heifer. As far as what breed, that's pretty much personnal preference. GOOD LUCK and enjoy it.
