| Wal Mart has already started calling the shots in terms of how milk is produced. In response to Wal Mart's decision to label their Great Value brand milk as being from cows not supplemented with rBST several of this country's creameries strted requiring affidavits of non-use. In the beginning there was a premium for non-use showing up in the milk checks. That premium has steadily eroded and in most cases has vanished altogether. At least that has been the case with the dairy producers I worked with.
I do think that the work being done at the University of Arkansas is good stuff as they are doing life cycle assessments. | |
