i finish holstein steers. I do use some silage, but when they are getting close to finish weight they are eating mostly ground corn. I wish i was using cobmeal (earlage) but am not set up for it---yet. don't forget adequate protein levels-- corn distillers (ddg's) and corn gluten work good when priced right. Most importantly get a good implant program in place. FWIW mine are going over the scales as overnight cattle at 1650lbs.
