biggest problem with picking now days is there now corn bred for picking, its all bred for easy shelling and so if your picking alot can be lost in the "head" we havent picked for over 15 years but still have the 2PR in the shed. some day i'll get it out and just play with it, im 30 and spent most of my falls when i was litte helping grandpa unload ear corn into the elavator, picked wtih a M into a Dokon box (flare box with a web) a Lindsay galvanized 200 bushall gravity box and a 200 bushal barge box. hired the shelling done by Greibel bros who came with a Super M on propane, MM i dont remember hte model and a couple of trucks, cought all the cobs in awagon and hauled to pile in cow yard and baled what few husks there where. Dad said there were lots more husks with the old JD picker.
