You may be right about the calf from the larger cow being a "late bloomer". However in my operation they are going to get harvested before he gets a chance to catch up so the early growth is what matters. In fact to all cow/calf producers, unless you finish your own or retain ownership, early growth is what pays the bills isn't it? My bull that sired both of these calves has good growth EPD's so at least half of their genes are the same. So my feeling is that the cow is the difference. Both calves are good calves, my feeling however is that 66's calf will net a much better PROFIT than 77's calf.
