Armstrongs' assertions about governmental strong arm tactics and ultimate confiscation of wealth are chilling. Two years ago I would have dismissed them as out of hand, but now, after seeing how quickly and completely Washington rushed to the aid of the big money interests in 2008, I'm not so sure. Personally, I felt that I got a rare view into who and how Washington is really run.

As one example, I have never understood why our entire energy policy for decades has revolved around oil, with just about all other alternatives being quietly and effectively squelched, even though we've known for years that our dependence on foreign oil was excessively damaging to this country. It only makes sense in the context that big oil, and its' partner the military industrialists, who are hired by the taxpayer to ride shotgun with their exhorbitant fees, are dictating energy policy.

One could go on. Where are our anti competitive, antitrust laws? We're at the point now where nearly every industry has consolidated into just a very few players, with just about complete pricing power. Or witness the wealth of this country amassing with the top one or two percent. And what has happened to our sense of patriotism? I suspect more people have the feelings of disillusionment. This is an extremely important and disconcerting topic.
