Elevators can change their policy at a moments notice on the type of grain offer they will buy at, basis, ect.    It is why a person needs to be able to sell on the board, if they think it is the correct $ and time to sell.  A person does not have to make an actual cash elevator sale to make an actual sale of their grain. That is the gain or loss of such a sale/decision can be made in cash or on the board.
