Careful about going into cistern. Post on here recently about a 6' deep cistern without oxygen in it. !! 2 died.
What about a large, new (extra clean) surface tank inside the shed that is filled with "city water" for your cooking and shower use. Is the rest of the bldg above freezing? Use the cistern for "gray water" ?
