Driftless SW Wisconsin

Chad,

I have been using diesel for several years now. 4 oz of Permectrin II to 2 gal of diesel and it works well. It has NOT taken the hair off of my Herefords!  I will grant there may be some other breeds where there may be some hair effect but I have seen none and the diesel/permectrin mix works on flies. My rubs are across the lane going to the waterer so they must go under it a couple times a day.

A neighbor uses a dairy fly mix sprayed directly on the cattle. He has good luck with that but is there to do it more often than I am. I have to rely more on self application with the rubs.

With all the rain we've had in WI the rubs do need to be recharged more often than in dryer years. I put about a gallon of the mix per week on about 15 ft of rub with the hanging face flyps.

Good to see you at Mitchell.

Jim at Dawn
