Subject: Re: Guardrail Fence

NW Iowa
We put a short run in last year for our bull yard. Got used rail (in good shape) and used rail road ties. Torched holes in the rail and fastened with 1/2" lag bolts. If the joints didn't match up on the posts, just bolted them together. We ran 2 rails, then used barb wire on the top. Still thinking on that one, probably replace it with sucker rod.

Rail is easy to put up, ours didn't take all that long. We have some deteriorating fencing and when it's time to replace it, rail will be used. I think for $/ft of rail compared to cattle panels, etc, the rail will out last enough to justify the cost. And it looks nice.
