ECIL | For the 50K I could put up way more than enough bin for the acreage I farm. But then I'd need a way to keep my share separate from the Landlords. I'd think a bin would pay better over time than a bagger if I had to lay out the cash for enough bushels to justify a bagger in the first place. Since I am a smaller acreage (considerably less than 800) I have to work with the tools I can best utilize. I do have some storage but I do want to have some cash in hand come New Years Day rather than pay commercial rates. That's why I am comtemplating a basis contract on corn off the combine to cover any slippage in basis come harvesttime if CBOT bids continue a ways upward. | |
