Subject: Bernanke speaks today.. "Thanks farmers...?"

Bernanke goes to Congress today to give another report on the health of the economy.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100721/ap_on_bi_ge/us_bernanke

Here is what he said the last time...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/02/AR2008040201162.html

"Clearly, the U.S. economy is going through a very difficult period. But among the great strengths of our economy is its ability to adapt and to respond to diverse challenges. Much necessary economic and financial adjustment has already taken place, and monetary and fiscal policies are in train that should support a return to growth in the second half of this year and next year. I remain confident in our economy's long-term prospects."

Well Agriculture has certainly "leaned into it" cranking out record crops last year... and "not looking too bad" this year in the face of an adverse financial climate..  When the Nation's chips were down.. farmers have come through.. providing something real at a time of vaporizing assets...  you know in all honesty... Someone ought to apprecieate that.

I believe Ben has done an outstanding job.. he alone might deserve credit for keeping the country out of a depression.  However, I also believe farmers have done "our part" to crank out the production to allow the Fed to pursue such a "stimulative" policy.

When the economy gets back on it's feet.. Someone is going to want to restock the shelves.. and we've got the goods to do it.
