northwest tennessee | abcess maybe? I would catch him and feel of it and should be trying to make a track somewhere in it. You should be able to tell if it is an abcess by the way it feels. Maybe stick a big needle in it and pull back and see if you get fluid. If it is cut it low on the lump where it will drain and run finger in it to clean out and open so it will start to drain. Maybe flush with hydrogen peroxide or iodine. If it is just super hard and no softness anywhere in it could be a tumor. Just my guess.
