Columbia City, Indiana | Actually they're doing better than I thought when I wrote this. I'm not into babysitting and moving them every day, I want to leave them in an area for at least several days. These girls need to pay their own way with as little help from me as possible. Had two new calves this morning, that puts me up to 14 with 2 to go, one of whom is a late calver who will be short weaned and and shipped this fall and the other may not be bred. Her mother missed a year also, so not the kind of genetics you want in your herd anyway. Her mom got away with it because she was kind of like a pet, first one I bought and raised her on a bottle. She got struck by lightning last summer. She's not a pet though, so if I don't get a calf she'll be outta here soon. | |
