central kansas | Talked to some local farmers in the area 3 wks. ago They were not very excited about the deal. Seems the payback on contract buildings was about 15 years using about all income. There was talk that the farms would be co. owned and just hired labor. You know what that means for the area, more low paying jobs. The grain was to come in on rail as they are already grain deficient in the area. Makes for good press and politics but in the end I don`t know how much it will help local farmers. | |
