Horned all the way, like others have said, when they bred the horns off they bred the ass off. I'm not giving up pounds on my calf crop because I don't want to dehorn calves. I wouldn't mind using polled hereford bulls again some day, but they have to perform consistently with the horned variety. Some of these breeders have made polled cattle look thick by reducing the frame. I still sell pounds, and a bunch of frame 4-5 calves does not work, not when you're selling straight angus calves that are frame 6-7 that blow them away by 200lbs at yearling time.



fyi John Wayne never fooled with polled herfords at his 26bar ranch.
