I think it helps. Nothing is 100% of course, but by far and away most of our calves are born right around dawn or a little before. We generally feed around 3pm. We don't know what mud is here, so that isn't an issue. Wouldn't work for a lot of reasons, manpower being one of them on a larger ranch. But it works well for us as that is usually when I'm done with other jobs for the day.

One other nice thing, is usually if a cow is having problems, you catch it first thing in the morning and have all day to deal with. Easier to get a hold of a vet or a neighbor for a hand at 7 am vs 7 pm.
