Subject: RE: Network problems

DeKalb, IL
I hope you get an answer to this one....I've been dealing with a similar thing since I got a computer back from the shop downtown with a power supply replacement. While it was there, it got outfitted with the shop's version of Internet Explorer, and also ran into that message on every attempt to access shared files and directories on that computer. Got billed for the power supply and for 'installing all necessary MS Updates' which I found a bit aggravating since I'd just brought everything up to date the day before the power supply died.

My workaround on the sharing thing has been to create a new folder and share it. Seems that newly -created 'shares' function properly--for me. I then bring everything from the original folder and paste it into the new one, and I've got access across the network again. But, I'd like to find the single setting change to bring the computer back to where it was before I started getting that same message you're getting.
