| I'm from south central MN and have had several co-ops merge around us, both in Mn and just across the line in Iowa. EVERY time there are promises of better prices paid to the farmers and lower costs for the farmer to pay with better services to boot. EVERY time the opposite has happened. Instead on dealing with someone close, you get to deal with someone 50 miles away WHO COULD CARE LESS IF YOU DO BUSINESS THERE OR NOT!!! We are fortunate that we are on the edge of the territory of what I have been told is the largest co-op in MN...(Watowann Farm Service). It's uncommon for WFS's closest elevator (4 miles away from me) to be within 5 cents/bu on corn and 10 cents/bu on soybeans from a smaller (3 location elevator co) that is 7 miles away from me. I don't even bother to price fert, chem or fuel anymore from WFS. In fact, the WFS logo has come to mean W=we'll... F=f**k... S=somebody | |
