See above | I worked part time in a receiving facility that did magazine subscriptions returns similar to what's being discussed here. What it comes down to is this:
If you don't put anything related to "remove me from your list" or "deceased", your name will never be removed from their list and you'll continue to get the same crap sent to you. You can cut it up and stuff the envelope, but frankly, it's laughed at because you'll be putting in the work and still getting the same crap you don't want. Even when you cut up the documents and return them, workers are told to find simple pieces of what's been cut up and process them accordingly. The returns were divided into 4 categories:
Payment included (sent a check or CC number)
Bill me later
Cancel - cancel's current subscription, cut up pieces and other junk, stays on mailing list
Pandering - deceased, remove, name will be removed from mailing list from that particular magazine
