I can guarantee one thing, it was definitely a lot more complicated and high-tech than it looked. The amount of math and practical engineering know how that went in to making that maze possible was quite advanced. It definitely wasn't an afternoon project. It took weeks to plan.  The next generation of mechanical engineers succeeding in practical application.
