We sometimes fly out of Buffalo (I've even done Detroit, but the 3 hour drive home after returning is less than desirable) when the price is right. Quite often, flying from Buffalo is significantly cheaper than Toronto depending on the destination and connecting flights.

If this international security stuff stays, I might use Buffalo more often even when the price is close. It's just about double the driving time for me, but cuts down on the airport time a lot.
